Interested in further involvement?

Joining the KPTA SSIG Board of Directors is a wonderful leadership and networking opportunity.  The main focus is planning the annual Midwest Student Conclave.  Being involved in this organization will look good on your resume, but it is so much more than that.  Planning the MSC allows you to exercise your leadership and teamwork skills, provides opportunity to network with others students and professionals, and provides you with a voice in your future profession.  Officers will serve their position for a one year term, but may not serve for more than 2 consecutive terms. Chairman
The Chairman is responsible for:
  • Preparing the agenda and being present for all SSIG and Executive Board meetings
  • Report to the SSIG and Executive Board meeting as requested
  • ​Prepare the annual report and any other report as requested by the chapter.
  • Serve or designate someone to serve as the official SSIG spokesperson.
  • Take part in and delegate responsibilities for planning of the Midwest Student Conclave and other SSIG events.

Vice Chairman
The Vice Chairman is responsible for:
  • Assist the Chairman in the conduct of all SSIG activities
  • Report to the Chairman and Executive Board meeting as requested
  • ​Assume the duties of the Chairman in the absences or incapacitation of the Chairman.
  • Take part in planning of the Midwest Student Conclave and other SSIG events.

Secretary
The Secretary is responsible for:
  • Responsible for keeping and distributing the minutes of the SSIG and Executive Board meetings
  • Responsible for reporting to the Executive Board, Chairman and Chapter as requested
  • ​Maintain the SSIG archives of official records, documents, and correspondence
  • Prepare summary of the proceedings of SSIG meetings for distribution on the Student Page of the Chapter website and/or Chapter newsletter
  • Take part in planning of the Midwest Student Conclave and other SSIG events.

Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for:
  • Responsible for coordinating SSIG financial matters with the Chapter.
  • Develop and propose the SSIG annual budget and disperse funds only as requested by the Executive Board or Chairman with review of the Chapter Treasurer.
  • ​Responsible for reporting on the financial status of the SSIG as requested.
  • Act as the contact person for financial matters relating to fundraisers.
  • Take part in planning of the Midwest Student Conclave and other SSIG events.

Director of Membership
The Director of Membership is responsible for:
  • Maintain the SSIG membership records and notify SSIG members of the date, time and place of meetings.
  • ​Responsible for submitting a report on the SSIG membership for the annual meeting.
  • Submitting regular additions to the Student Page of the Chapter website, sending out emails to SSIG members, organizing recruitment efforts and reporting to school representatives, Executive Board, and the Chairman as requested.
  • Take part in planning of the Midwest Student Conclave and other SSIG events.

Director of Public Relations
The Director of Public Relations is responsible for:
  • Responsible for creating publications for media outlets to increase membership and awareness.
  • Must be familiar with social media platforms and advertising for the KPTA and APTA. 
  • Maintain student participation for those who cannot attend conferences.
  • Take part in planning of the Midwest Student Conclave and other SSIG events

PTA Liaison
The PTA Liaison is responsible for:
  • Responsible for communicating with PTA students about all SSIG matters. 
  • Determine ways to promote PTA involvement in SSIG. 
  • Take part in planning of the Midwest Student Conclave and other SSIG events. 
To run for office, you must write a platform for the position you are running for and submit it to the designated current members.  As elections get closer, more information will be emailed and posted on social media. See below for requirements for running for office.

KPTA SSIG Board Member Candidate Requirements
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a PT or PTA program.
  • Must be a member of the APTA/KPTA.
  • No experience required.
