What school do you attend and what year are you in school?
I am a 2nd year DPT student at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Why did you choose Physical Therapy?
After working in the Health and Fitness field for over 6 years, I realized there were disconnects between providers, patients and quality care. I quickly became passionate about advocating for the patient and wellness professions. My focus has always been on treating the whole person and preventing injury so the natural next step was physical therapy. I love what we are able to do as healthcare professionals in the way of advocacy for the patient and healthcare as a whole!

Why did you want to be a part of KPTA SSIG?
I plan to work at a policy level one day, fighting for physical therapy rights and our patients, so being part of the SSIG was the obvious choice to gain experience and leadership skills.

What is a hobby you enjoy outside of school?
I love to run, travel, spend quality time with people, drink coffee and watching sitcoms!

What school do you attend and what year are you?
I am a 2nd year DPT student at the University of Saint Mary.

Why did you choose Physical Therapy?
I chose Physical Therapy because through this profession I will be able to build meaningful relationships with my patients while at the same time helping them live a life with decreased pain. Physical therapists are able to help improve the quality of someone's life by correcting their movement system. I love that Physical Therapists can provide a glimmer of hope to a person during one of the darkest times of their life.

Why did you want to be a part of KPTA SSIG?
I wanted to be a part of KPTA SSIG because I wanted to develop my leadership skills and become involved in the physical therapy profession outside of school. KPTA SSIG allows physical therapy students to network with other students and physical therapists in the state of Kansas and the surrounding areas. I wanted to be a part of a group that would allow me to gain experience and grow professionally beyond the walls of a classroom.

What is a hobby you enjoy outside of school?
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time outdoors. I love snowboarding, paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, and swimming.

Why did you choose Physical Therapy?
I initially chose Physical Therapy because I saw it as a great way to still be involved with athletes when my sports career was over. After spending time shadowing and working as a tech, I found myself to enjoy this field because of the interactions I can have with people I am trying to help as well as a great area I can grow my knowledge in over time.

Why did you want to be a part of KPTA SSIG?
I wanted to join KPTA SSIG after both attending the student conclave last fall, as well as meeting older students of my school who were members of the SSIG themselves and listening to them talk about their experiences and what they've gotten out of it.

What is a hobby you enjoy outside of school?
Outside of school, you can catch me playing golf, basketball, watching TV, or spending time with my friends or family.

Why did you choose Physical Therapy?
I chose Physical Therapy because I want to help individuals who suffer an injury get back on their feet and get them back to the healthy and happy lifestyle they want.

Why did you want to be a part of KPTA SSIG?
I wanted to be a part of the KPTA SSIG so that I could be involved in making a difference in Physical Therapy. Furthermore, I wanted to better myself as a future Physical Therapist by learning from members on the APTA board.

What is a hobby you enjoy outside of school?
Outside of school, I enjoy exercising, golfing, traveling, and spending time with friends.

What school do you attend and what year are you in school?
I am currently a 3rd year DPT student at Wichita State University.

Why did you choose Physical Therapy?
I chose Physical Therapy because I love having the opportunity to walk alongside people at some of their most difficult points in their lives. I will get to witness a level of perseverance and determination rarely seen in everyday life. There is a great personal reward and joy in knowing that I will have a role in seeing the patient’s quality of life restored and getting back to what they love.

Why did you want to be a part of KPTA SSIG?
I wanted to be a part of the KPTA SSIG because I wanted to help contribute to my future profession and being able to advocate for Physical Therapy students. It is important to me to help give students opportunity to have their voices heard and the ability to network with other students from various schools.

What is a hobby you enjoy outside of school?
Outside of school I love spending time outdoors and traveling. Over the past few years, I have also created two small businesses that I have a passion for growing and pouring time into.

Why did you choose Physical Therapy?
There are so many different reasons to why I chose to be in the profession of physical therapy, but the most important one to me was the ability to build relationships and serve people in the community with compassion and excellent patient care. Physical Therapists can very well have a profound impact on the people they treat by restoring function, providing education, and being an advocate.

Why did you want to be a part of KPTA SSIG?
I want to be able to represent and assist students in our state's chapter. I am excited to collaborate with other board members from programs across the state to advocate for students in the profession of physical therapy.

What is a hobby you enjoy outside of school?
I enjoy spending quality time with my friends and family. Running is a huge passion of mine!
